What is Ideal Weight?
Ideal body weight is an estimate of the optimal weight for a given height. Different formulas were developed for different purposes (clinical drug dosing, general health). No single formula is universally accurate — the healthy BMI range is generally the most practical reference.
Formulas Used
- Robinson (1983): 52 kg + 1.9 kg per inch over 5 ft (men) / 49 kg + 1.7 kg per inch over 5 ft (women)

- Devine (1974): 50 kg + 2.3 kg per inch over 5 ft (men) / 45.5 kg + 2.3 kg per inch over 5 ft (women)

שאלות נפוצות
Which ideal weight formula is most accurate?
No single formula is universally accurate. The BMI-based healthy weight range (18.5–24.9) is the most widely accepted reference for general health.
Should I aim for the exact ideal weight?
Ideal weight is a reference range, not a strict target. Focus on healthy habits rather than a specific number on the scale.
Does ideal weight differ by body frame size?
Yes. Some formulas account for frame size (small, medium, large). The values shown here assume a medium frame.
